550 Paracord is an abbreviated term for 'parachute cord' a material that was first constructed for the US air division during WWII, providing a reliable and super-strong cord for military use. Sadly, today the vast majority of 'Paracord' is not actual paracord, and although often visually identical, the materials made to contrast it are often cheap and unreliable, and certainly not load tested.
550 Paracord is ideal for outdoor play, survival and bushcraft courses and the perfect material for making outdoor shelters - kids love it! Bright coloured paracord is ideal for making paracord survival bracelets and other survival products, such as lanyards.

This 4mm paracord comes in a huge range of colours, from olive green paracord through to neon green, pink, orange and even camo paracord. Commercial Type III is a genuine 550 US-Made Paracord with 7 inner braids, and differs only to our other cord (MIL-C-540) in that there is no tracer cord inside, a feature that unless you are purchasing on behalf of the US Government really won't matter as its sole purpose is to identify that it is of Military Issue and is traceable back to source. Our paracord is ROT-PROOF, UV resistant and colour fast - so it won't fade and breakdown overtime outside.

PLEASE NOTE: Our 550 cord is now sold as standard in 50-FOOT (15.2m) bundles. For example, order 1 unit and you will be sent 50-feet of cord. Order two units, you will be sent TWO lots of 50-feet, and so on. We also offer 250ft reels and 1000ft reels which you may find on the drop down.
