Billhook with Cover

Bill Hooks with Covers for Forest Schools are something that is few and far between due to the varying nature of the shape of billhooks. Most counties produce their own pattern of billhook, so no sheath or cover fits each design due to the different lengths and styles.

Here at the Forest School Shop we have introduced a billhook that comes with a complete and fully recycled cover for the blade that has been specifically made to fit our billhooks to keep them safe whilst in transit to and from the site of use.

There are a few things to note: firstly, as an ethical company we try to re-use as many materials as possible and so we've decided that our billhook sheaths should be made from recycled or surplus products that can be used to create a functional billhook cover for this reason we make no promises of colour, style or neatness, we just promise that the cover will fit the billhook supplied.

Each billhook cover will be made by one of our in-house craftsman and because of this we cant promise that next day delivery will always be available on this product - and since COVID there will be a delay. If place an order, we will supply the billhook without the cover and the cover will follow after so that you can use the billhook in the meantime. The lead time for the cover can vary, so please contact us before ordering if that element is very urgent - especially since COVID.

So, to clarify, our billhook covers are made from recycled, or upcycled materials for function and not beauty, so they may all vary in appearance, colour, neatness and design, but they be made to fit the billhook that they are supplied with. And again, there may be a lead time for covers, so please bear this in mind when ordering.

The billhook features a steel blade of approx. 10-inches and a wooden handle and is ideal for coppicing, woodland crafts, splitting firewood and for traditional campsite woodcrafts.
